Jindal Stainless gets waste pickers health insurance and new tricycles
As part of its vision to improve people’s lives, Jindal Stainless extended medical coverage to rag-pickers in Hisar, Haryana

The Jindal Stainless Foundation, in partnership with Green Dream Foundation, initiated the project ‘Hisar Heroes’ for addressing the issue of solid waste management. With the objective to improve the life condition of the waste pickers, medical coverage cards were distributed to them at Hisar, Haryana. The initiative covers both day care and hospitalization under the prevailing insurance scheme. Beneficiaries of the scheme were also educated about the benefits, and Dos and Don’ts to avail preventive-care benefits under the insurance plan. This initiative was a part of Jindal Stainless’ ongoing pursuit to provide dignified livelihood to everyone among its peripheral communities.

In another incident, a fire broke out near the waste aggregation centre where the dry waste was stored. To support and revive the waste pickers’ livelihood, waste collection tricycles were distributed to them. The intervention will boost their collection capacity, which will enhance their income, thus, helping them sustain their livelihood.
