Skill Development has been a key focus area of our CSR initiatives with an ever increasing population in the productive age group. A skill gap analysis study conducted by us recently, revealed that there will be an increase in the availability of skilled jobs in the next five years. But on the contrary it also showed a huge gap between the demand and supply of skilled individuals. Our effort under skill development is an attempt to bridge that gap. The study also gave us insights on the duration of courses and their effectiveness; longer planned courses had more impact and also more market value. In the process we have started in addition to the existing courses, longer courses with relevant industry and government partnerships at the plant locations.

Jindal Stainless Foundation has established Jindal Institute of Industrial Training in Hisar (Haryana) and Jajpur (Odisha) to impart training in various trades to the youth belonging to the region with the aim to make them economically independent and self reliant. The courses taught at the institute have been developed keeping in mind the existing and future market demands. The Institutes have modern training infrastructure and instructors who individually mentor the students.

Basic and advanced courses are being run in Dress Designing & Fashion Technology, Industrial Electrical, Computer Software and Hardware and Networking, Beauty Culture etc. Special training programs have been started to reach out to communities with limited access like the deaf youth. An English and Hindi sign language program is being run in Hisar to cater to this group of youth.

To ensure that the training programs are at par with the industry requirements, Jindal Stainless Limited has formed strategic partnerships with various Corporates and NGOs to implement the programs. Some of our partners for skill training are NIIT Foundation, Schneider Electric, Usha International, DLF Foundation etc.

  • Jindal Stainless Limited is also initiating a first of its kind course in Stainless Steel Fabrication in partnership with the Community College initiative IGNOU and Haryana-IGNOU Society for Community Education and Training (HISCET).
  • Jindal Stainless has also adopted two ITIs at Hisar and Nalwa in Haryana with the ITI Hisar being a Woman ITI.
