- Recognition strengthens Jindal Stainless’ role in developing industry-led qualifications and building a skilled talent pipeline for the stainless steel ecosystem
National, September 18, 2026: Jindal Stainless, India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer has formally signed an agreement with the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), for its recognition as an Awarding Body. This will enable Jindal Stainless, to develop and offer Government recognised, industry-led qualifications and certification programmes aligned with the evolving skill requirements of the stainless steel ecosystem.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was attended by Chairperson, NCVET and Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, Ms Debashree Mukherjee; Secretary to the Council cum Director, NCVET, Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati; Director – Corporate Affairs, Jindal Stainless, Mr Vijay Sharma; and Head – Stainless Academy, Jindal Stainless, Ms Bhavna Chopra Srikrishna.
NCVET is the apex national regulator for vocational education, training and skill development in India. As an Awarding Body, Jindal Stainless will be eligible to award, assess and certify learners for approved or adopted qualifications where training is directly imparted through campuses or training centres owned or fully managed by the organisation. NCVET has approved the first Qualification developed by Jindal Stainless – “Stainless Steel Decorative Pipe & Tube Manufacturing Operator” under Capital Goods sector at NSQF Level 4 – to be awarded to trainees who undergo relevant courses.
Commenting on the development, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, Mr Abhyuday Jindal, said, “India’s manufacturing ambitions cannot be realised through infrastructure and technology alone; they also depend on the capabilities of the people who operate, innovate and build within these systems. As the nature of industrial work evolves, the relationship between government, industry and the institutions that prepare people for it must evolve as well. Stainless Academy was established with this larger purpose in mind, and its recognition by NCVET marks an important step in giving industry a stronger role in shaping and recognising the capabilities that India’s stainless steel sector will need.”
The recognition builds on Jindal Stainless’ work through Stainless Academy, its education and skilling initiative focused on developing a skilled blue- and white-collar workforce for the stainless steel sector. Since its inception, the Academy has worked across industry aligned training, curriculum development, specialised programmes for ITIs, Polytechnics and Engineering colleges, and MSME cluster development. With the NCVET recognition, Jindal Stainless can build on this foundation by developing qualifications and certification programmes that reflect the practical requirements of stainless steel manufacturing, processing, fabrication and applications.

The NCVET recognition marks another step in Jindal Stainless’ efforts to address workforce readiness gaps among fabricators, workers, employers and students through an industry-led approach, while strengthening collaboration between industry, academia and Government to support the development of a skilled workforce for India’s growing stainless steel ecosystem.
