Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Limited receives CII’s National Award for Excellence in Energy Management

Hisar, September 8, 2021: India’s leading stainless steel producer, Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Limited (JSHL) has bagged the “Excellent Energy Efficient Unit” award at the 22nd National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2021, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). This award recognizes JSHL’s efforts towards energy efficiency in its overall manufacturing process. CII acknowledged JSHL’s energy management among a total of 480 organisations from different sectors such as automobiles & engineering, buildings, cement, paper, power, and metals. JSHL is the first company in the Indian steel industry to implement ISO 50001:2018 norms for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system (EnMS).

Lauding this achievement, Senior Vice President- Manufacturing, JSHL, Mr Vijay Bindlish said “We firmly believe in adopting sustainable practices in our business. With every innovation, we aim to conserve and recycle energy. I congratulate the entire team at JSHL for their hard work and diligence, and for bringing laurels to our Company. We will continue to work in this direction and take up more advanced methods in the future that can reduce energy consumption and harmful emissions.”

JSHL has successfully implemented various energy efficiency and renewable energy measures at its manufacturing unit that help optimise energy usage. Over the last five years, JSHL has reduced its specific energy consumption by more than 11%, while reducing overall GHG emission by 21,362 metric tonnes per annum. Further, JSHL has set an organizational target to reduce its carbon emissions by 10% by 2025.
