New Delhi, July 29, 2024: Jindal Stainless, India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer, commenced the second batch of its fully-sponsored two-year M.Tech. programme in Steel Technology in partnership with the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay for its employees. The sponsorship programme is in line with the company’s vision to improve lives through innovating for better processes and practices, and maintain its competitive edge in creating sustainable and world-class solutions.
Designed with the intent to deepen employees’ knowledge of iron and steel-making technology, the tailor-made programme focuses on keeping participants abreast with latest industry innovations. The eligibility criteria for enrolment in this sponsored course includes at least three years tenure at Jindal Stainless or its subsidiaries, a B.Tech degree in Mechanical or Metallurgy with a minimum of 60% aggregate, and a consistent high performance in the organisation.

The employees from the first batch are currently working on their thesis projects. A total of 11 employees are currently enrolled in both batches. Upon successful completion of the course, employees will be considered for job rotation to ensure they get the right opportunities for application of their research findings and learnings.
This collaboration is a one-of-its-kind in the stainless steel industry and can improve efficiencies at every level of the manufacturing process. It will also encourage participants to usher in innovative ideas and solutions for optimising the quality-cost-emissions mix. Jindal Stainless has always viewed such industry-academia collaboration to catapult Indian stainless steel manufacturing to greater heights. The company fosters a continuous culture of learning through such collaborations and aims to impart awareness about stainless steel to students as well as fabricators through its initiative called Stainless Academy. As part of Stainless Academy, Jindal Stainless offers stainless steel as an elective course for all branches in government Polytechnic Colleges in Odisha and Haryana. Moreover, the company has integrated stainless steel as an elective subject for all metallurgy courses at seven premier engineering institutes, including several IITs, National Institute of Technology, Trichy, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur.
