Stainless Steel Beam
What is a Stainless Steel Beam?
In structural engineering, stainless steel beams are horizontal elements designed to support vertical loads. The typical structure of these beams consists of a horizontal flange at the top and bottom, connected by a vertical web, forming shapes such as I, H, or other cross-sections.
Types Of Stainless Steel Beams
1. Stainless Steel H Beams
H beams are characterised by their broad flanges and parallel sides, resembling the capital letter ‘H’. They come in three profiles, HEB, HEA, and HEM.
2. Stainless Steel I Beams
The stainless steel I-beam, also known as the I-section, features a vertical middle part (web) and two horizontal flanges on top and bottom.
3. Stainless Steel W Beams
W-beams (Wide Flange Beams) are similar in form to H-beams. They have parallel flanges and a uniform thickness throughout.
4. Stainless Steel S Beams
S-beams, also called American Standard Beams, feature tapered flanges that are not parallel, unlike W-beams.
5. Stainless Steel U Beams
U-beams consist of a flat base (web) with two parallel flanges forming a U-shaped cross-section. The dimensions like flange width, web depth, and thickness dictate their strength.
6. Stainless Steel T Beams

T-beams have a flat flange with a single vertical web, resembling a capital ‘T’. The flange resists compressive bending stress, while the web resists shear.
