Hisar, July 31, 2026: Jindal Stainless’ Hisar unit has been honoured with the Times Internet Ecopreneur Award 2026 for Lifetime Achievement in Sustainability. The award was presented recently at Hyatt Regency, New Delhi, recognising the company’s sustained commitment to sustainability, innovation, and environmental stewardship.
The award acknowledges the Hisar unit’s continued efforts to build a low-carbon, resource-efficient, and future-ready stainless steel manufacturing ecosystem. Over the years, the company has undertaken several initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint, including investments in renewable energy, green hydrogen, waste heat recovery, energy efficiency, circular economy practices, and responsible resource management.
In Q1 FY27, the Hisar facility further strengthened its sustainability performance by increasing the share of renewable electricity in its power mix to 67%, up from 58% in the corresponding period last year. The unit also achieved a 12% reduction in greenhouse gas emission intensity while commissioning key energy-efficiency projects, including an energy-efficient centrifugal compressor and waste heat recovery systems. Additionally, the facility was certified ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ with a Platinum+ rating for FY 2024–25, underscoring its commitment to circular economy principles and responsible waste management.

The facility continues to advance its decarbonisation roadmap through the adoption of green hydrogen in annealing operations, expanded renewable power procurement, rooftop solar generation, and energy conservation projects across manufacturing processes. The company also registered with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking another important step towards setting science-based emissions reduction targets aligned with global climate goals.”
