Rooted in community ownership and empowerment, it aims to institutionalise sustainable waste management practices by driving door-to-door waste collection, segregation at source, material recovery facility (MRF) operations, community awareness initiatives and remediation of legacy waste sites. The programme currently covers 1,000 households across villages in Solei, Singagadhia, and Danagadi in Odisha, and benefits 2,500+ individuals on a daily basis.
At the heart of the initiative are women-led Self-Help Groups, which manage key aspects of the waste management value chain – from collection and storage to segregation, processing, and linkages with recyclers. The programme builds women’s economic empowerment by generating livelihood opportunities.
As part of its broader CSR commitment, Jindal Stainless continues to implement initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, community development, and inclusive growth in and around its operational areas. ‘Stainless Swachhata Abhiyaan’ Summit reflects the company’s collaborative approach to working alongside local administration, Self-Help Groups, and citizens to strengthen structured waste management systems at the grassroots level.
