Stakeholder Engagement

Nurturing Trust through Meaningful Engagement

At Jindal Stainless, building and sustaining trust is not incidental to business; it is foundational to it. The Company’s ability to create long-term value significantly depends on how well it understands the expectations of those it serves and those it impacts. This recognition has shaped JSL’s approach to stakeholder engagement: one that is proactive, structured, and deeply integrated into strategic decision-making.

IFRS S1 – Governance Disclosures, Strategy, Risk Management, and Materiality & Sustainability-Related Risks & Opportunities

During the year, JSL continued to evolve its engagement frameworks to align with the changing expectations of its diverse stakeholder base, spanning investors, employees, customers, suppliers, regulators, industry bodies, and local communities. Rather than viewing engagement as a periodic exercise, the Company has embedded it as an ongoing practice that informs sustainability priorities, operational improvements, and governance decisions.

JSL's Engagement Philosophy

JSL’s engagement approach rests on three core principles:

01

Mutual Respect

All dialogue is conducted with transparency, fairness, and a genuine commitment to hearing diverse perspectives, particularly those of groups that may be more vulnerable or marginalised.

02

Strategic Response

Insights gathered from engagement exercises are systematically reviewed and used to inform JSL’s sustainability strategy, product development, and risk management frameworks.

03

Accountability & Follow-Through

Jindal Stainless does not merely listen; it acts. Commitments made to stakeholders are tracked through relevant internal processes, reinforcing trust and demonstrating that engagement is meaningful.

Who Are JSL's Stakeholders?

JSL identifies and engages key stakeholders through a structured, three-tiered approach:

Engagement frequency ranges from continuous to periodic, using channels like emails, meetings, surveys, and digital platforms. Topics span legal compliance, sustainability, governance, livelihood support, and business collaboration. Within this framework, communities are identified as a vulnerable group, requiring participatory and tailored engagement strategies. This approach, informed by a Double Materiality Assessment aligned with global ESG frameworks, ensures inclusive, transparent, and responsive stakeholder relationships across all operational sites.

Translating Stakeholder Feedback into Action

Stakeholder engagement at JSL is not a one-way communication exercise. The information gathered through formal and informal channels is actively channelled into the Company’s strategic planning process. During FY26, engagement outcomes have continued to reinforce several areas of strategic focus:

01

Decarbonisation and Clean Energy

Investor and customer expectations around climate accountability have reinforced JSL’s commitment to transitioning towards renewable energy sources and reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

02

Circular Economy Practices

Feedback from sustainability-focused customers has accelerated JSL’s focus on maximising recycled scrap usage and implementing Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL) initiatives

03

Local Community Development

Continuous dialogue with communities in JSL’s operating locations has directly shaped the focus areas of the Jindal Stainless Foundation, including skill development, healthcare access, and clean drinking water projects.

04

Supplier ESG Alignment

Supplier engagement forums have highlighted the need for stronger ESG integration in the supply chain, informing the development of enhanced supplier assessment frameworks.

05

Digital HR and Employee Experience

Employee feedback has been a key driver behind the rollout of Darwin box and other digital HR tools aimed at improving employee experience and well-being.

Grievance Redressal: Ensuring Accountability

JSL has established robust grievance redressal mechanisms across all stakeholder groups. The Company believes that providing accessible, fair, and timely resolution of concerns is integral to maintaining trust and upholding its social licence to operate.

Looking Ahead

The Company is committed to deepening the quality and breadth of its stakeholder engagement in the coming years. Planned enhancements include expanding the reach of digital engagement tools, increasing the frequency of community dialogues in newer operational areas, and developing a more structured process for tracking and closing feedback loops across stakeholder groups. Jindal Stainless aims to transition from engagement as a compliance activity to engagement as a genuine driver of shared value creation.
